I knew before I began, that I wanted to write about faith and trust in our loving Mother Yahweh. And when I came across this Scripture, I began to ponder just what being a hero means. Who are my heroes? And what qualities do they possess that makes them a hero to me? As I thought about it, I could honestly say that I have many heros, but they are also all members of the Holy Family.
Yahweh and Christ Jesus our loving Savior are of course, at the top of the list - yes, they are most definitely my heroes, but there are also many others who have stood steadfast and exhibited the qualities that I find so admirable - faith and trust in our Mother. There are many who are wiser, more knowledgeable, who have fought longer and harder and there are those who have also exhibited a quiet faithfulness and gentle trusting nature. They are all heroes to me.
It’s interesting to me too, that words that are related to the word hero, include “champion”, and “fighter”. A champion is someone who has defeated all their opponents, and I often feel, as I’m sure many of you do, that when it comes to maintaining our integrity which includes faith and trust in our Creator, we must fight for it. Our opposers are many and they are determined and it takes strength and conviction to battle with them.
1 Timothy 6:12 Fight the good fight for the faith; take hold of eternal life, to which you were called and have made a good confession before many witnesses.
2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
Sometimes the fight involves one from within our own selves and not from a direct opponent. That might mean fighting off the urge to not have trust, or not have faith and it too must be overcome, beaten down, rooted out before it takes hold and extinguishes any possibility of eternal life.
1 Corinthians 1:10 [ Divisions at Corinth ] Now I urge you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all say the same thing, that there be no divisions among you, and that you be united with the same understanding and the same conviction.
Such wise words, “there be no divisions among you, and that you be united with the same understanding and the same conviction”. As a family, we must be heroes of faith for one another. Let there be no divisions, and let us be united in the same understanding and conviction that our God is righteous, and trustworthy and we can place all our trust and faith in Her and Her plan. In that way we shed Her light from within and share it with one another. And no matter where we turn, or where we look, there is light and a hero can be found in every direction.
