Mankind has forgotten, to whom it is that we should revere and be thankful to. We reserve one day a year, call it Thanksgiving, say a quick prayer and then eat the food we’ve been given and call it a day; or more aptly, a year.
The rest of the time we continue to pollute this earth, which was given to us out of love and containing everything we might need in order to not just simply survive, but to live completely fulfilled and blissfully happy lives without a second thought as to how He who created it might feel as He looks on. Like children with an errant paintbrush smeared with black paint, we forge ahead in destroying Yahweh’s masterpiece.
We have also become prideful, foolishly believing that we can do literally anything and have no need of Yahweh, who created everything. Taking full credit for all we have done that is good in our sight without giving a passing thought as to whether or not it is pleasing in God’s sight - and if it is, not a single thought or prayer of thanks to the One who made it possible to begin with unless of course, it is deemed a national holiday.
We have also worshipped either no god or other gods, who had nothing to do with all that we were given and excluded the One who is. Like rebellious teenagers we refuse instruction and discipline and laugh in the face of Wisdom.
And all the while Yahweh has patiently suffered as evil has multiplied and divided like cancerous cells - we continue with our lying, cheating, stealing, adultery, murder, greed, and too many other evils to count. And while not a day goes by in which these things are brought to our attention they no longer phase us because we have traveled so far away from what Yahweh intended for His creation that we can no longer hear His voice.
In short we have become everything but humble, submissive and fearful, and we are unable to give the One who made everything a place in our hearts to call home because they have become hardened - not even our obedience as thanks.
Therefore, while many may have convinced themselves that the final judgment will never come simply because it has in their eyes, taken so long to arrive; do not be surprised when it does.
Jeremiah 5:21-22 Hear this, you foolish and senseless people. They have eyes, but they don’t see. They have ears, but they don’t hear. Do you not fear Me? [This is] the LORD’s declaration. Do you not tremble before Me, the One who set the sand as a boundary of the sea, an enduring barrier that it cannot cross? The waves surge, but they cannot prevail. They roar but cannot pass over it.
