though it was so long ago,
when a man laid down his life
for a ransom he didn’t owe.
Of this undeserved kindness,
it makes you wonder if today,
there is a single man alive
who’d suffer as he did that day.
This gentle man, so good and true
and so loved by our creator,
who walked a path to show all of us
that our own paths could be straighter.
It was victory that was his that day
as he is a warrior in his own right,
defeating the powers of darkness
with his own bright shining light.
And as hard as Satan has tried
to steal his glory away,
to this day we do proclaim
he is the life, the truth, the way!
Let us fix our eyes on Jesus,
the source and perfecter of faith,
and pray that the paths we walk
might one day be as straight.
The remembrance of his sacrifice
occurs but one day a year,
when truly it should be every day
that we recall with great revere.
If anything is done at all
take a moment just to say
thank you for your sacrifice,
Christ Jesus Savior and King.
