2 Corinthians 4:18 So we do not focus on what is seen, but on what is unseen; for what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
Philippians 2:2 Fulfill my joy by thinking the same way, having the same love, sharing the same feelings, focusing on one goal.
Philippians 3:19 Their end is destruction; their god is their stomach; their glory is their shame. They are focused on earthly things,
Focus is defined as being a central point, as of attraction, attention or activity and when striving to reach for Father’s Light, where must our eyes be? Where must our focus remain? And why must focus be maintained?
There are many distractions in this world and it can be easy to take our eyes off that which should be our focus and unseen to turn our attention that that which is seen. It can be easy to forget that which speaks softly and have our attention grabbed by that which roars loudly. What’s the old adage...? “The squeaky wheel gets the oil”. But it’s not always that which squeaks that truly needs and deserves our constant attention. There are other things that are more important.
It can sometimes be difficult also, to live in a world full of these types of distractions that seem to pull and tug at you for your attention. The things that seem so important right now that truly are not when compared to that which is truly important.
On an average day I go to work, which is filled with items of importance involving that of a publishing business struggling to stay afloat and comes along with all its own deadlines, stresses and anxieties. I also hear personal stories from friends and coworkers discussing what to them, seems very important to their careers, friendships, loved ones and ambitions in life. I watch, listen to and read the news, which is overflowing with social, economical, political concerns and natural and unnatural disasters. They all on the outside appear very important and are certainly attention grabbing. I am, very much so, on the outside looking in and it’s not at all that I don’t care about the things that everyone around me feels is pressing and important, it’s simply that I see a greater importance elsewhere which is in my service to Yahweh and Christ Jesus and my duties as a minister, so maintaining that focus and remembering while living in the midst of a great amount of chaos and among those who place great importance on things that I do not can sometimes be tough.
And then there is the world that is lived within myself. The part in which I am not on the outside looking in, but on the inside looking out and having been enlightened to truth and the true reality that most living on earth right now do not know, or see or understand. It is the part in which efforts are made to continue growing in knowledge, understanding and wisdom and in conforming to Yahweh’s Way and in knowing that Salvation can be lost as easily as it can be gained. It’s the part in which reflection and searching one’s heart is necessary and it too can be a distraction if filled with “what if’s” and if it is not done in a completely balanced way. In essence it can involve taking the focus off Yahweh and placing it all on ourselves instead.
Amidst it all and in both the physical and spiritual realms there is no other thing more important than our duties to Yahweh and Christ Jesus and this Spiritual War in which so many eternal lives hang in the balance, not to mention the vindication of Mother’s Holy Name. Were everything else to melt away it would easily be forgotten, but something as important as this simply cannot.
The perfect balance, I believe is in focusing on Mother Yahweh. In looking to Her in all things and when tempted to move our eyes from Her, having the knowledge and self control to keep our eyes trained on Her in obedience, faith, loyalty and love making Her love our love, Her feelings our feelings and Her goal our goal. For in the case of our grand Mother and Creator, the One who guides us and teaches us how to obtain Eternal Life, there is no one more deserving of our attention and in placing our focus on Her we can be assured that it is where it belongs. And truly, when our focus is on Mother and Her Way and our duties, our focus is also on others as well as ourselves and the completeness of Yahweh’s perfect plan for Her creation.
