We all have the ability, if we are diligent in our efforts, to master the sin that comes from within as well as from outside sources. To master it we must take control and rule over it, knowing right from wrong and training our minds to react correctly and accordingly.
There could be once instance per day, or there could be a multitude, but there is always an opportunity to do what is right. And many times, there is a struggle involved because being sinful by the nature of the secondary sin we were born into, the flesh wants for one thing while the spirit wants for one quite different - and from there the battle ensues.
Matthew 26:41 Stay awake and pray, so that you won’t enter into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.
It is also important to remember, that it does not always take an outside evil or negative source, such as a demon, to cause dissension in ones own self. While we might consider ourselves “a good person”, in reality true goodness is cultivated over time and with careful care and attention and in being rooted in truth. In the same way that a farmer carefully cultivates his land, so also must we cultivate our hearts and our minds, paying close attention to what is allowed to take seed and rooting out anything that might go against Yahweh’s Way.
Isaiah 28:24 Does the plowman plow every day to plant seed? Does he [continuously] break up and cultivate the soil?
I have come across no easier way or proven shortcuts in achieving the mastering of sin, I believe, because it is not easy to do. Great things are not accomplished easily. It is a daily and constant struggle to better oneself and reach for Father’s light. But in keeping things simple, remaining calm, patient, prayerful, balanced in ones thinking, and humble at all times, and in being accepting of the counsel of others more knowledgeable than I whose intent is to help me down this narrow path, I have found that the path has been made clearer so that I do not stumble as often as I might have otherwise.
Mastering anything also first takes having the want and/or the need to. Whether it be an achievement in schooling and obtaining a degree, learning a new hobby, or a new language, doing well at our chosen profession, or in the raising of our children, we must wholeheartedly want to do these things and have the dedication that it takes to master them. And when we truly want something, we do not give up.
We are given the tools, the knowledge, the understanding and the wisdom to accomplish what we set out to master via our heavenly Mother and Father Yahweh through Her Word and Her Spirit. We are given examples and also provided helpers. We are given everything that we might need at the precise time that we need it and we can, all of us, master sin.
