The first mistake made my man, was listening to the voice of another rather than the voice of our Father Yahweh. In Eve’s case, it was listening to the voice of Dawn Lucifer in the garden and in Adam’s it was listening to the voice of Eve.
Genesis 3:17 And He said to Adam, "Because you listened to your wife's voice and ate from the tree about which I commanded you, 'Do not eat from it': The ground is cursed because of you. You will eat from it by means of painful labor all the days of your life.
Since this time, and for the past 6,000 years, mankind has struggled in learning how to listen for Father’s voice. Some have done very well and others have continued to listen to the voice of others which lead them astray but even for those who have done well struggled at times. Others have heard Father’s voice but not listened or followed through.
The question remains for many in how does one listen to God’s voice and exactly how does God speak to us? If we can’t hear Her with our own ears, how do we know that it’s God’s voice?
Father has spoken to us and continues to speak to us in many ways. Via the scriptures, Her Holy Spirit, Her son Christ Jesus, Her shepherds, Her angelic messengers, Holy Ghosts, our dreams, visions, prayer, meditation, even other people but most importantly, She speaks to our hearts.
However, a change must be made within one’s own mind in order to be able to hear Father when She speaks to one’s heart. This is shown at 1 Chronicles 22:19 Now determine in your mind and heart to seek the LORD your God.
Our heavenly Father believes in Free Will. She does not seek puppets on strings, but children who love Her for loving them first. And, I lived many years believing in God and loving God, but not truly listening for Her voice in my daily walk of life. I tripped, stumbled, fell, got up again and tripped, stumbled fell, I ran into brick walls, failed to learn from past mistakes, interacted with the wrong people, experienced petty anger, anxiety and worry and was basically moving further and further away from the Narrow Path into darkness before Father found me and showed me the light of truth and what love and servitude really means.
Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding
It wasn’t until I determined within my own mind that I would seek Father’s will above all else and fully submit myself to Her will and trust Her completely, that I more clearly understood what it meant to listen for and actually hear Her voice. In essence, Father found me and reached out to me, but it was up to me to take Her hand and accept the guidance that was being offered. It took a change within my own mind, which would then enable Father to take up residence within my heart and it also took trusting Her fully in both my mind and my heart so that I did not (and do not) rely on my own understanding and listen to voices other than Hers.
In the New Testament, our loving savior Christ Jesus also mentioned the key to hearing Father’s voice:
Matthew 22:37 He said to him, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your mind.”
At Mark 12:30 Strength is also mentioned, showing that it will also take inner strength.
Mark 12:30 “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind and with all your strength.”
In this day and age, and in the past as well, but especially now in this dying world, it takes real strength of mind and spirit to defeat the evil that is crouching at the door to snare us and push us off the Narrow Path to salvation. And because once saved is not always saved, our walk with Father in Christ’s footsteps is a daily walk and it’s of utmost importance that in all things we not only seek to do Father’s will, but in all things with full trust in Her and listen for Her voice. Before that can be done though, the change must take place first in our own mind, where it will then filter into our heart. Once it does, Father’s voice can then be heard within your heart.
